Leadership Capabilities

The Unleashing Talent Leadership Capability Framework represents what good leadership looks like at Western Health and how it can help us achieve our organisational goals. It also provides staff with a roadmap to enhance their leadership skills and plan the next steps in their career.

Leadership capabilities are skills and behaviours that can be observed and measured. They can help us perform our roles effectively and achieve our career goals.

Our framework has 12 Leadership Capabilities, six in each of the two imperatives: Setting Direction and Delivering the Service.

Imperatives are the goals of the highest priority, at Western Health they are:

a) Setting Direction
Developing and implementing a vision for the service. This involves planning and making evidence-based decisions for the fulfilment of our strategic aims.

b) Delivering the Service
Effectively managing people, managing performance and keeping the patient at the heart of everything we do.
